Alcohol Breath |
There are times in your life when reeking of alcohol won't win you any favors, such as during a job interview, going on a first date, meeting the parents or hanging around your coworkers the morning after. Whatever the occasion, stinky alcohol breath is tricky to cover up but provided you're aware that you breath does smell boozy (not everyone is!), one of the following solutions might just solve that pesky smell for you.
Taking something to cover odor
A range of items can be taken orally that may help to cover the odor. The problem with these may be their availability but if you can grab some, they might be all you need.
- Take bentonite and charcoal capsules. Although this is probably the worst tasting way to remove alcohol breath, it's widely known as the most effective. They can be found at any drug store. Follow the instructions on the package.
- Take AntiPoleez. AntiPoleez eliminates bad breath resulting from the consumption of alcohol. Apparently its components increase the consumption of breath-producing molecules by the epithelium of the mucous coat of the upper respiratory passages. Hopefully, that means clean, fresh breath. And in case you're worried, it does not contain any chemicals or artificial flavors, just natural ingredients (and it complies with FDA regulations).
Food and drink cover-ups
Food and drink to the rescue? Absolutely! Most of these solutions are readily obtainable.
- Gobble up some potato chips. Potato chips, especially when they're lightly dipped in peanut butter, can help to mask the alcohol smell.
- Eat "bar" food. Items like popcorn, crackers, nuts and fries can absorb excess alcohol if they're consumed while drinking. This may help to alleviate the odor next day, or you could just end up smelling like you've been to a bar.
- Chew gum. Gum can be helpful. Stick to strong sugar-free dental gum with mint or peppermint flavor. Peppermint lozenges or candies could also be substituted for gum, taken regularly.
- Suck on cough drops. Try to get cough drops which have a strong component of menthol in them. Although people may question if you're sick, it will mask the smell of the alcohol. Unless you want to lay it on thick, just tell people you're covering up a tickle in your throat (or trying to give up smoking).
Cleaning up your breath
A clean mouth will help partially; just don't be surprised if it's not the whole solution but needs to be combined with some of the other suggestions in this article.
- Use toothpaste and mouthwash. After eating aromatic food and chewing some gum, brush your teeth. Using a mouthwash like Listerine is also highly recommended.
